In 2000, Buckhorn Bison and High Plains Bison joined in partnership to form Rocky Plains, LLP. Owners Phil, Dee, Steve and Karen, with over 14 years experience in the bison industry, have built Rocky Plains with the philosophy that all-natural, free range bison is the best red meat.
We currently run a herd of 270 buffalo that range on the natural grasses in the Pawnee National Grassland in northern Colorado. Our bison live as close to their original, natural habitat as is possible in today's modern world. We take pride in knowing our bison live the life they were intended.
At Rocky Plains, we also subscribe to the theory that many of today's serious human illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer may be linked to the unnatural, over-processed food that we consume as a majority in this country. We believe in getting back to the basics, including raising bison as they should be raised and consuming natural foods in their intended states, which leads to a healthier, higher quality of life.
Our buffalo business, over the last seven years, has led us to other producers who share our passion for real food. At our two stores, one in Loveland and one in Erie, we now offer our customers all-natural, grassfed, free-range lamb, pork and chicken as well as raw milk shares from 'R Patch 'O Heaven dairy.
